This is the front and back cover of the Kennkarte (ID Card).  This was a bifold document composed of oil cloth.  This was the standard

civilian id document of the 3rd Reich.

The two fingerprints are for the right and left index fingers.  A photo of the bearer is glued in place (sometimes stapled or rivited) and it is corner stamped

to prevent removal and replacement of the photo.

The document is then signed by the bearer and stamped  and signed by the issuing authority, in this case The Mayor acting as the Regional Police Official, and a fee of

1 RM (Reichsmark) has been paid, as shown by the stamp in the left corner of page 3.

*The background of pages two and three are composed of a small reddish design so that any erasure or change would stand out.
