Assorted Personal Items

This "Greif" (Griffin) Brand tin was for

a typewriter ribbon.  Tins were used for

various products and once the tin was no

longer needed it became a handy storage

This tin from the Pelikan company once contained thumb tacks, but just as

with the Greif tin it would make a handy container.  Items like these are not too

common in the US, but they can be found.  Check your local antique shop. 

If you have the chance to be in Europe check flea markets for items like these. 

They can be quite cheap since  they don't have big swastikas or "Wehrmacht-

This little canister is oval shaped.  It still has it's original contents of Oelkreidestifte (Colored

 Pencils).  This is a small canister and it easily fits into your pocket.  This was manufactured

 by the Günther Wagner Company, aka Pelikan.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is a "Fasan" (Pheasant) brand

 bakelite razor.  There were many

types inexpensive bakelite razors

available before and during the war. 

This brand, as can be seen on the box,

was exported all over. 

This is a "Hanna" brand pack of 10

razor blades.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is a packet of "Kristall-Süßstof" (Crystal Sweetener), is was made of Saccharin, an early artificial sweetener.  According to the

 label one packet has the sweetness of 550 grams of sugar.  Real sugar was a scarcer item in wartime Germany.
