Wehrstammbuch

The Germans liked to document everything and as a result they needed a backup...in comes the Wehrstammbuch.  This was maintained by the Wehrkreis local office where you were inducted from.  It includes all the information that was in your Wehrpass and Soldbuch so that incase of loss all of your information was safe and replaceable.  This book is larger than the Soldbuch, maybe 2.5x the size and has 49 pages, along with pockets to hold documents.  I own a few and these are some of the items I have found in them, punishment reports, medical reports, police reports, statement the you're not a Jew, marriage certificates, and other sundry items.  As you can see this was issued to Johann Gensburger (sp?), he was in the H (Heer) with the specialty of Pi. (Pioneer), currently classified as Reserve II, with Wehrnummer Ingolstadt 12/4/9.  He served in the invasion of Poland, the Low Countries, and France and then was demobilized.  This book does not show him being recalled so maybe he died after the French occupation.  There are few entries, a promotion to Gefreiter on 1.10.1939 and training on the Gewehr 98.
